Assignment 2: Self Story time

In this clip, I share a personal story of myself with editting from 4 different take. Combined. below is the script combined with the audio.

Compatibility

Part 1

Let’s start with a little bit of experience of mine. Years ago, I was in a relationship, and I was very close to getting committed. For a little more context, I was overweight, depressed, and honestly, I wasn’t too happy, but my life was passing by the motion. I was a sceptic cynic if you will.

My girlfriend at the time was more than happy to settle down. She wanted simple things in life. A family, children, and a stable job. And to keep her around, I obliged and told myself, this is what I wanted too. And move things in my life to make her happy. And told, no, lie to myself, I am happy with the arrangement.

Now I am not saying what I did was wrong. After all, who doesn’t want the person they love to be happy?

But secretly, I wished for more. I often imagine my life to be wilder and more ambitious. To take risk and live on the edge. However, every time I proposed something wild, I was turned down. And many of my other needs are not satisfied. Mind you, I would like to clarify, she does love me in her own way. But in terms of compatibility, she would buy me gifts and do things for me. Very classic acts of service person. But if anything, I have learnt from my encounter, I might not be fully capable of appreciating the things that she does since my love languages are other things.

What eventually woke me was during a conversation with a friend, he told me, “You deserve better.”

And I genuinely wish the same for the rest of you too.

To wrap up the story, I ended things with her, picked myself up from the mess I was, and chose to pursue my happiness. There was multiple more misadventures in between but now I think to myself, I met a compatible one.
