Final Assignment : Hollow Knight

I picked the Hollow Knight video because of all the games presented, it is the only one I had played even though sir did say that for this particular video, the 1 minute clips could be a challenge to edit.

I have done some research on how to make the electric and the annoying mosquito sound. I personally omitted the Jumping sound, as the name suggested, Hollow Knight is "Hollow on the inside" hence leave but I provided some impact on the Landing.

Below is a list of which the list of sound used and created.

Electric Sound (Velcro)

The electric effect is created by using the pulling of the Velcro of my bag proceeded with a bit of a dampening effect and using the Chorus effect.  The ending was originally abrupted, so it was cut and use to Fade Out.

Mosquito Sound (Violin)

The mosquito sound is created by pressing the M key on the virtual virtual violin and recording it. There were originally some distortions, but it was removed and smooth out. Then the volume is reduced and compressed, followed by an adjust to the Equalizer.

Sword Strike

Considering the original weapon of the Hollow Knight is sharp like Needle, the equivalent would be using a chopstick to strike a hard surface(A bowl) to create the original sound. After removing and adjusting the length as to fit many strikes in a short duration of time, there was very little need to adjust the sound.

Coins

The sound of coin is created by striking a 10 cent coin against a bowl with a spoon inside. The spoon created a satisfying echo sound which resembles the sound of getting rich. The duration was adjusted to fit as not to distract the player during combat.

Death cry and zombie sound.

Both the death cry and zombie sound were made with mouth. Duration was adjusted and volume were reduced.

Landing Sound

The Hollow Knight landing is characterized as a small being landing on hard ground. So, the sound is made with two fingers tapping on a peanut butter jar, there was an unintentional water sound which was kept because it made it sound like the floor of the cave is wet.

Background Music

The background score is a song played by virtual piano. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder from the Dark Souls Game. It’s fitting music for the scenario because it depicts a gloomy dark world like the atmosphere of Hollow Knight. The volume is adjusted so that the remainder sound can still be heard.
